How MyCDLPractice Works
Most CDL practice test sites make you create an account, hand over an email, sit through a sign-up funnel, and then hit you with a paywall the moment you want to see more than five questions. We don't.
Step 1: Pick an endorsement
From the homepage or the Practice Tests page, choose the endorsement you're studying for. Class A General Knowledge if you're going for an over-the-road truck. Air Brakes if you need that endorsement. HAZMAT, Tanker, Passenger, School Bus — whatever's next on your list.
Step 2: Take the practice test
Each test pulls a randomized set of exam-style multiple choice questions from our bank. One question per screen on mobile so you're not squinting. Big tap targets so you don't fat-finger an answer. Tap to lock in your choice.
Step 3: Learn from the explanation
As soon as you answer, we show you whether you got it right and explain the rule behind the question. This is the part that matters. Memorizing answers gets you nowhere on the real exam, where the same rule is tested with different wording. Learning the rule means you can answer any question on that topic.
Step 4: Retake until you're consistent
Most state CDL tests pass at 80%. We recommend practicing until you can hit 90% or better here on multiple consecutive attempts. By that point, the rules are sticking.
Step 5: Take the real test
When you're ready, schedule your CDL written exam at your state DMV. If you also need ELDT theory training (required by the FMCSA before the skills test), ELDT365 handles that online. If you still need to find a CDL school, CDLSpot has thousands listed.
